Details:

The Regnbue jacket is a super versatile pattern with various variations. The name Regnbue comes from Danish and means rainbow. A rainbow is only visible when the sun is shining, and what could be more beautiful than rays of sunshine? When my children saw the shape of the pocket, they said: “Oh mom, they’re beautiful, they look like a rainbow.” At that moment, it was clear there could be no better name for the pattern.

When designing the pattern, it was important to me that the jacket could be sewn entirely from boiled wool, despite having proper pockets, and without using ribbed fabric. This is made possible with the rainbow yoke. You can read about its advantages on my blog in boiled wool Part 1: Types, Properties, Washing, Lining. The rainbow yoke can also be sewn and finished as a single layer. However, a normal pocket welt on the rainbow pocket is also possible. Additionally, there are two different patch pocket variations in the pattern.

The cut is loose and casual with slightly dropped shoulders. This makes it even more comfortable for dressing, especially for babies. Regnbue can be sewn lined or unlined. You can choose between a zipper, a button placket, or snap fasteners. The pattern includes a pointed hood, a round hood, and a three-piece round hood.

During sample sewing, we tested various fabric types. The pattern is designed for boiled wool, fleece, softshell, wool terry, waffle piqué, and similar fabrics. Further details on fabric selection can be found in the ebook.

In the ebook, you’ll find a detailed measurement chart, so you can sew Regnbue to fit your child perfectly. There are also tips and tricks for sewing with boiled wool and working with wool braid. If you’ve never tried working with boiled wool before, you’ll find several blog posts on my blog about caring for and sewing with wool.

All the listed variations are described and illustrated in detail:
